Rally Badge 2006

   Conondale Z900 Rally 2006

Meet the legendsIt was that time of the year again, Z900 Owners Rally in Connondale. With trailer we met up with Kiwi and Vanessa and headed off on a short ride - Caboolture to Woodford, where we met up with Cowboy and a bunch of others. Then we went through some of the best picturesque roads.

Cowboy had suggested a little detour road, but we skipped that, cause we ran into the thickest fog. There was drizzle rain and thick fog. Most cars appeared out of the fog without even their lights on.

The Rally was same place as last year and previous years. The entry was $15 per person and included badge and one of the best two man band we've ever heard. Beer was $3 a can, which we thought a bit rich. If they charge $2, they would sell twice as much, make more money and everybody would benefit. A couple would easily down 10 cans for the rally day each, that's $60 just for drinks. If it were $2 a can, most wouldn't bother bringing their own.

The trees are great and so is the creek. It wasn't as hot as last year, so I was the only one in our group that took to the water. It was great. Most people seemed to crowd together in the the open paddock area. We picked the more scenic creek riverbed. Evening drinks and snacks as the sun painted the rainforresty creek surroundings in yellow light. Later after all the rock and roll, it was dark enough to enjoy the millions of stars in the sky and reflecting in the still, clear creek water.

The Gymkhana was without any skilled riding, but there was lot's of other fun. Tug of war (where Glasshouse put up a great fight, including attempts to distract with boob flashing). Tyre tossing and Push bike, warm beer, cold pie and dry cracker heats (in pairs), was one of them. The food was great. A nice curry and rice for $6 was good value as were the steak burgers. People in the kitchen did a terrific job. The Zowners club had a great lineup of Z900's and Z1000 bikes. I talked to one guy who had ridden from Townsville, just to get to the rally. He slipped and crashed into a Diesel bowser on the way, but no noticeable damage to him or bike even.

Yes, Mr Mutt was there as well as always. The band played great collection of rock, such as Cocaine, Easy Rider, and most of the classic 70's type of music. I hope they bring them back next year. We'll see you next year.
